Amnesty Fantasy: Counting on Criminals to Obey the Law~!

By John W. Lillpop

The amnesty travesty now being considered by congress has a fundamental and fatal flaw: It relies on people who have shown a blatant disregard for U.S. laws to become obedient and lawful.

Do Senators McCain and Kennedy and President Bush really expect illegal aliens to do the following?

- Heads of household will voluntarily return to Mexico in order to qualify for citizenship consideration?

- Aliens with criminal histories will voluntarily come forward for background checks?

- Aliens will fork over thousands of dollars to the U.S. treasury in fines and fees?

-Aliens who have paid no income taxes until now, and are just barely making ends meet, will repent and voluntarily pay ~20% of their incomes in state and federal taxes?

- Aliens here on a two-year permit will voluntarily return to Mexico, and wait a year before reapplying for another permit?

What unbelievable folly, fantasy, and foolishness!

Adult illegal aliens are, every last one of them, criminals. At a minimum, they have crossed U.S. borders illegally and continue, by their very presence, to willfully violate our immigration laws.

In addition, many steal public services to which they are not entitled, pay no income taxes, and, in some instances, register to vote in U.S. elections.

Others commit violent crimes including murder, rape, and robbery while in America. Drunken driving crimes are also high in the illegal alien community.

In summary, every illegal alien here has proven to be quite capable of violating important U.S. laws.

The current amnesty fiasco appears to be a repeat of the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) scam whereby the government granted amnesty with the promise of enforcing tough new sanctions against employers who hire illegals.

Since the 1986 IRCA was enacted, 12-30 million additional illegal aliens have invaded America.

There has been no enforcement of IRCA by either Republican or Democrat administrations.

Is that the unspoken intent of those promoting the absurd amnesty plan now before the U.S. Congress?
